Women's Bowling Competes at Mohawk Valley

The men's and women's bowling programs competed in the second Mountain Valley Conference meet of the season, which was hosted by Mohawk Valley on Friday afternoon in Utica, NY. 

The men's bowling program continued their terrific bowling as they finished first with a total score of 6,850. Individually, the men were highlighted by Anthony Hurlburt (Hoosick Falls / Hoosick Falls) with a fantastic first block of games. Hurlburt posted outstanding scores of 248-268-259 for a total of 775. This week's NJCAA Region 3 Male Bowler of the Week, Kyle Fortin (East Greenbush / Schalmont) also put up good numbers for the Vikings in the first block. He posted his best individual game of 258 and a three-block total of 705. 

In the second block of games, the men were led by Jordan Nichols (Saratoga Springs / Saratoga Springs), who bowled a career-high 826 triple on single game scores of 290-278-258. He was followed by Codi Genthner (Troy / Lansingburgh), who posted a high game of 279 with a block total of 743. 

The women's program has been bowling very well this season as well. The women placed fourth with a total score of 4,165. 

Individually, Jordan Thomas (Lake Katrine / Kingston) led the way for the Vikings in the first block of three games. Thomas posted a single game high of 201 with a triple score of 557. Gianna Weiss (Troy / Lansingburgh) followed Thomas with her best game of 194 and a triple score of 531. 

In the second block, Thomas continued to bowl some of her best games of the season. She finished the block with a team-high 221 single game and posted a team-best 591 triple. Carmen Morales stepped up in the second block to help lead the team with a 201 single-high and a triple score of 533. 

The Vikings bowling teams are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 1 as they travel down I-90 to compete in the Boulevard Classic in Schenectady, NY.
