Jordan Thomas Wins Blue and Orange All-Around Title

The men's and women's bowling programs competed for the first time in 2020 following a successful run at the Roto Grip Keystone Classic and Lehigh Valley Classic over the Christmas break. The Vikings traveled south to participate in the Blue and Orange Invitational in Wappingers Falls, NY. Freshman Jordan Thomas (Lake Katrine / Kingston), won the all-around for the women's program and Jason Macey (Lansingburg / LaSalle Institute) placed second in the all-around standings for the men.  

Thomas had a strong showing in the singles portion of the tournament as she finished second overall with a total score of 580 pins. Her singles performance helped set up the opportunity to claim the overall all-around championship, which she claimed with a final pin tally of 1,104. She edged Erie's Cassandra Green by a small margin of two pins in the all-around. 

Gianna Weiss (East Greenbush/Columbia) earned a top-20 finish in the singles portion of the tournament. Weiss finished the set with a total score of 470.

On the men's side, they were led by Macey, who placed second overall with a total pin score of 1,287. The Vikings had four individuals place inside the top-8 of the all-around standings. Anthony Hurlburt (Hoosick Falls / Hoosick Falls) placed sixth with a total score of 1,205 and Christian Caputo (Rotterdam / Schalmont) finished right behind Hurlburt in seventh place and posted a score of 1,196. Placing eighth in the all-around standings was Kyle Fortin (East Greenbush / Schalmont), who also had a great showing in the singles portion, where he placed second overall. Fortin posted a score of 647 in the singles portion and finished with a total score of 1,188.

The duo of Macey and Fortin joined forces for the doubles round and placed second overall with a total pin score of 1,220. 

The Vikings are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 19 as they travel west to compete in the Mohawk Valley Invitational in Utica, NY.
