The Hudson Valley Community College women's bowling team is in first place out of eight teams after day one of the NJCAA National Championship Tournament in Buffalo. Meanwhile, Hudson Valley's men are in fifth place out of 16 teams.
Hudson Valley's women, which totaled 7,758 pins on opening day, holds a slim 70-pin advantage over second place Erie Community College with one day remaining in the tournament. Freshmen Jamie Nieckarz and Kelly Borden teamed up to capture the doubles competition for Hudson Valley with 1,106 pins. Hudson Valley sophomore Kristina Jenkins is the current overall leader with 1,657 pins.
The tournament concludes on Saturday, March 10 with the Five Man competition and three Baker Games.
