Fresh off capturing their third consecutive Mountain Valley Conference championships, the Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's bowling teams will be competing at the NJCAA national championship tournament Friday-Saturday, March 9-10 in Buffalo.
Hudson Valley's women will be looking to take the next step after finishing second in the nation at the NJCAA tournament a year ago. The Lady Vikings have several veteran performers who already have earned accolades this season. Sophomore Kristina Jenkins (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) earned All-Region recognition after finishing fourth at the Region III championship. Sophomores Madison Spickler (Watervliet/Watervliet High School) and Kristen Koenig (Wynantskill/Catholic Central High School) and freshman Lauren Pulver (Albany/Colonie High School) each earned All-Conference recognition for the performances during the season.
Hudson Valley's men finished fifth at the national championship a year ago but hope to use this year's conference title and a second place finish in the Region III championship as a springboard to a national title. Sophomore Matt Lieberman (Averill Park/Averill Park High School), freshman Ryan Chestnut (Latham/Shaker High School) and sophomore Nick Harris (Latham/Shaker High School) each recently earned First Team All-Region recognition and should be primed to lead the Vikings in the national tournament.
