The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team took the 5-1 win over Albany College of Pharmacy on Thursday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The two programs fought to a 1-1 tie at the half time break. Hudson Valley put a goal on the board first as Anthony Rouse collected an assist from Abbas Ghulam for the score at the 11-minute mark.

Pharmacy's Anes Bostandzic equaled the score on a penalty kick, which was caused by a yellow card foul inside the box by Rouse.

In the second half, the Vikings regrouped and went on an offensive run, scoring four goals to pull away and secure its fourth win of the season. Phenyo Ward scored back-to-back goals to push Hudson Valley up 3-1. His first goal was from the left side of the field and Ward sent a shot to the left corner of the net. His next goal came at the 75-minute mark, for an open shot on a one-on-one opportunity with the keeper.

Rouse later added his second goal of the game on a nice assist from Liam Neves at the 87-minute mark and Yan Thu took a cross pass from Chris Hertle for a two-touch shot in the back of the net.

The Vikings return to action this Saturday, September 17 as they travel to take on Westchester at 1 p.m. The Vikings next home game is Sunday, September 25 for Homecoming Weekend, and they will host Herkimer at 1 p.m.
