Louis Coplin Community Day
The annual Louis Coplin Community Day celebrates the 39-year career (1986-2025) of the former student affairs administrator who served as EOP Director, Director of Student Life, Vice President for Student Affairs, and Officer in Charge.
Throughout his tenure at HVCC, Louis Coplin worked tirelessly to ensure that all students were afforded an equal and equitable opportunity to earn a college education. Coplin is also a treasured member of the community. He dedicated time to develop community partnerships, planned and created student success and retention strategies, and developed academic support services for students considered “at-risk”
He supported activities to enhance student’s collegiate experience, via civic engagement; created a leadership skill development program, experiential learning activities and community resource days to expose students to various support services on campus and in the community.
He founded The FELLAS Golf League (Faith, Eternal Love for the Lord And Salvation) that raises funds to donate to charitable organizations and volunteers in at community outreach programs to assist families in need.
Each year, The Louis Coplin Community Day Committee recognizes a community and/or college employee whose dedication, commitment, professionalism, and humility epitomizes the character and work-ethic of Louis Coplin. The selectee recognizes the impact of an individual effort and understands the need for cooperation and collaboration to improve our communities and thus the world.
