The Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse team continued its streak of competing against nationally-ranked NJCAA programs to start the 2022 season. The Vikings completed its Western New York road trip with games at Monroe in Rochester and Genesee in Batavia, NY.
Friday, March 25 vs. No. 9 Monroe Community College
Following the first three quarters of the game, the two programs combined to score 7 goals with Monroe holding on to a narrow 4-3 advantage as they entered the fourth quarter of the game. In the fourth, Monroe went on a scoring run, outscoring the Vikings 9-2 during the final 15 minutes of the game.
Leading the charge for the Vikings was Matthew Calicchia, who finished the game with two goals. Jack Alvey added one goal and finished with a team-high two assists.
Saturday, March 26 vs. No. 7 Genesee Community College
In the final game of the weekend, the Vikings faced off against its sixth straight top-10 program to kick off the 2022 season in the Cougars. The Vikings had a balanced scoring attack with five individuals scoring a goal. Jack Alvey, Gavin Breen, Argyris Dinoris, Christopher MacDonald and Nate Burek all scored for Hudson Valley.
Hudson Valley kept it close as they trailed 4-2 after the first quarter and 8-3 at the halftime break. Genesee used a 5-0 run in the third to put the game out of reach for the Vikings.

The Vikings hit the road again this Wednesday as they take on Herkimer in a rematch of the Vikings double overtime win last week against the Generals. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
