Joseph Purello coached football, baseball and golf at Hudson Valley and was the college’s athletic director from 1972 to 1984. He was the first football coach at Hudson Valley after starting the program in 1969. He guided the baseball team to Region III championships and NJCAA World Series berths in 1968 and 1982. Purello led the Vikings to Region III titles in 1975, 1979 and 1983. He also served as a professor in Hudson Valley’s Physical Education department.
