Women's Cross Country Placed Third at Regionals

The Hudson Valley Community College men's cross country program won the 2023 NJCAA Region 3 Championship following a fantastic performance by All-Region performers Sam Van Auken and Garrick Smith-Growick.

Van Auken guided the men's program to their first Region 3 title since 2018 and paced the field, finishing third overall with a final time of 28:17. Smith-Growick was also named to the All-Region team following a sixth-place finish with an official time of 29:50 in the 8k championship race.

William Petramale, Adam Blough and Jaco Kraft rounds out the team's scoring and they all placed inside the top-15 to secure the title. Petramale placed 11th overall with a time of 31:29 and Blough crossed the finish line in 13th place with a time of 31:36. Kraft placed 15th overall with a time of 31:58. AJ Wilcox earned a top-20 finish, placing 18th overall with a time of 32:40.

The women's program placed third overall in the team standings and were led by Laurel Ticer, who earned All-Region recognition with a 10th place finish and an official time of 25:42 in the 5k championship event. Overall, the women's team placed five runners inside the top-20. Joining Ticer was Rebecca Martin, who placed 14th overall with a time of 26:26 and Sydney Swedish, who finished 16th overall and posted a time of 26:31. Rebecca Seiter finished 17th overall with an official time of 27:08 and Madison Washburn rounds out the team scoring in 19th place at 29:07. Maia DiLego completed the race in 29th place overall with a time of 35:04.

The men's and women's cross country programs are back in action on Saturday, November 11 for the 2023 NJCAA Men's and Women's National Championships in Huntsville, Alabama.
