Cross Country Excels at Fred Pavlich Invitational

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's cross country program excelled over the weekend as each program earned a top-3 finish among a full field of quality four-year programs at the Fred Pavlich Invitational at Bard College.  

The women's team kicked off the event with the running of the 5,000-meter course and the Vikings top runner was Olivia Skylstad, who placed seventh overall with an official time of 22:33. The women's team placed second overall out of a total field of 11 programs. Laurel Ticer earned a top-12 finish as she crossed in 11th place with a time of 24:15. Eva Sgambettera also earned a top-20 finish for the second straight week for the Vikings. Eva posted an official time of 25:09. Jessica Wank was right behind Eva with a 21st place finish and an official time of 25:41. Rebecca Seiter completed the Vikings scoring with a 33rd place finish and a time of 29:04.

The men's program concluded the event with the running of the 6,000-meter course with Hudson Valley's top runner, Eric Zumpe, crossed the finish line in 5th place with a final time of 20:13. The Vikings had four individuals place inside the top-30.

Jake Kinnicutt earned a top-20 finish with a time of 21:30 and Adam Blough was close behind in 23rd place and an official time of 21:35. Justin Layer placed 28th with a time of 22:03 and William Petramale rounds out the Vikings scoring team with a 31st place finish and a final time of 22:34.

Rounding out the remaining men's runners are Ian Shaw (41st – 23:53), Caden Jarvis (61st – 26:55), Cody Tyler (63rd – 26:59) and Aidan Alaxanian (75th – 32:35).

The cross country programs will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 when they travel to compete in the Cazenovia Invitational.
