The Hudson Valley men's and women's cross country programs competed in the NJCAA National Championship meet on Saturday morning in Westfield, Mass. The women's program claimed fifth place as their top finisher, McKenzie Ryan qualified as an All-American following her 11th place finish.
The women's team tallied 137 total points in the 5K race, which gave them a top-five finish for the second consecutive season. Ryan's 11th place finish came with an official time of 20:35.
Anna Clarke crossed the finish line in 32nd place and posted a time of 22:22. Clarke was followed closely by Ashley Martinez, who placed 41st overall and posted an official time of 22:43.
Michaela Troy and Rachel Dempsey rounds out the Vikings results with Troy placing 50th with a time of 23:21 and Dempsey finished with a time of 27:30. Emily Maynard also participated in the championship meet and recorded a time of 31:36.
The men's cross country team finished outside of the top-10 in 13th place out of 28 total teams. The men were led by Joseph Degiorgio, who finished the 8K race in 42nd place to with a time of 28:55. Evan Rogotzke followed Degiorgio and with a time of 29:47.
Rounding out the Vikings scoring were Ryan Bruce, who placed 82nd with a time of 30:18 and Dermot O'Connor, who crossed the finish line in 89th place with a time of 30:28. Jacob Wilson (31:21) crossed the finish line next and was followed by Francis Magai. Justin Caron rounds out the Vikings lineup and finished the race with a time of 32:01.
