SUNY Adirondack hosted the Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, October 21st at Queensbury High School. 4 cross country programs traveled to Queensbury to partake in the event, namely Herkimer, Mohawk Valley, Hudson Valley and Fulton Montgomery joined by the Timberwolves.
The women's race began at 10:00am and saw a thrilling battle between the only two programs competing for team results, Herkimer and Mohawk Valley. They were very evenly matched and fought for position throughout the race with Herkimer's Chyanna Bernier coming out with the individual top finish at 19:19. She was followed closely by SUNY Adirondack's Sherri Metcalfe at 19:51, but Mohawk Valley picked up points on Herkimer with 3rd, 4th and 6th place finishes from Kimberly Wrate, Iyanna Harris and Divah Johnson. Herkimer then crossed the finish line with the 7th, 9th and 11th place runners and finished their top 5 with 15th. Mohawk Valley placed their final two runners at 13th and 17th which tied the scoring at 28 points each. It would come down to each team's 6th runner which gave Herkimer the victory and the Conference Championship with Crisneysi Mejia finishing three places ahead of Mohawk Valley's Chelsia Gugliemi.
