The Hudson Valley volleyball team was defeated by SUNY Adirondack 3-2 on Wednesday night.
The Vikings celebrated seniors; Isabella Grevely, Elizabeth Baldes, Abbigail Newell, Jordyn Peacock, and Gabriella Kholstinin before the game kicked off. The Vikings won the first set 25-23 keeping the game within 2 the whole set. In the second set the Vikings fell behind in scoring and it eventually wasn't enough to catch up to the Timberwolves. They lost the second set 17-25. In the third set the Vikings rallied back and earned a win in another close set defeating the Timberwolves 25-22. The Timberwolves fought back to beat the Vikings by 4, forcing a tiebreaker set. By the end of the game the Vikings had fought their hardest to contain the Timberwolves but it wasn't enough in the last set and they were defeated 15-7.
Seniors Jordyn Peacock and Abbigail Newell led the team in kills, Peacock with 19 and Newell with 18. Emily Coffey led the team in digs with 26 and Newell tallied 16 digs as well. Overall it was a great effort by the Vikings but came up short in the end.
Looking forward, volleyball takes on Orange County on the road on Thursday, October 10th at 7pm.
