Volleyball Earns 2 Wins in Corning Pod

The Hudson Valley Community College volleyball team swept 2-0 Saturday as they defeated SUNY Broome and Corning.

GAME ONE: SUNY BROOME 0, HUDSON VALLEY 3 (18-25, 15-25, 14-25)

The Vikings started of their day by defeating SUNY Broome in 3 straight sets. Olivia Linart led the team in kills with 6 on 11 attack attempts. Linart also added 2 digs to the score sheet. Each adding 5 kills to the tally was Abbigail Newell and Jordyn Peacock. Newell had 5 kills on 20 attack attempts, as well as 8 digs and an ace. Peacock had 5 kills on 13 attempts, 2 solo blocks and 1 block assist. Overall the team totaled 23 kills, 16 digs and 9 aces against the Hornets.

GAME TWO: HUDSON VALLEY 3, CORNING 0 (25-23, 25-15, 26-24)

In their second match of the day against Corning, the Vikings swept again in 3 straight sets. Jordan Peacock had 13 kills on 22 attempts and 5 solo blocks. Emma Burr had 8 kills on 21 attempts and 5 digs. Gabriella Kholstinin led the team with 28 out of the team's 30 assists. The team combined for 37 kills, 38 digs and 30 aces agains the Corning Red Barons.

Up next the Vikings return home on Tuesday, October 8th for their senior night game against SUNY Adirondack. The match is set to kick off at 6PM.
