Volleyball Goes 2-0 on the Road in Jamestown Pod

The Hudson Valley Community College volleyball team went 2-0 Saturday as they defeated Genesee and Jamestown.

GAME ONE: GENESEE 2, HUDSON VALLEY 3 (25-21, 25-22, 18-25, 20-25, 8-15)

The Viking's first game of the day ended in a 3-2 win over Genesee Community College. The Vikings got off to a shaky start going down in the first 2 sets but rallied back to come back and win 3 straight sets to defeat Genesee. Abbigail Newell led the team in kills with 13 on 34 attempts. Newell also recorded 5 digs and averaged 17 points in the 5 sets. Gabriella Kholstinin contributed 8 kills on 13 attempts, 32 assists, and 8 digs to the Vikings. The team totaled 44 kills and 43 digs in the first hard fought game of the day.

GAME TWO: JAMESTOWN 0, HUDSON VALLEY 3 (23-25, 10-25, 13-25)

In game 2 the Vikings defeated Jamestwon in 3 straight sets to end out their road trip. They totaled 17 kills on 55 attack attempts, 13 aces, and 9 digs. Emma Burr led with 6 kills and Abbigail Newell added 4 kills to the tally as well. The Vikings defense held Jamestown to just 23 points in the second 2 sets combined. 

Volleyball looks ahead as they face SUNY Broome and Corning on Saturday, October 5th at 12pm and 2pm in Corning, NY.
