The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team had a tremendously successful day as they hosted the NJCAA Region 3 pod at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC on Saturday afternoon.

The Vikings finished the day with two, straight-sets wins against Corning and SUNY Broome and improved to 6-8 on the season and have won three consecutive games for the first time since 2017.

GAME ONE: Hudson Valley 3, Corning 0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-7)

In the first game of the day, the Vikings jumped ahead early on Corning and took advantage of the quick start to secure the straight-set win. Leading the way for the Vikings offensive attack was Sidney Phillips and Abby Taylor, who each finished with five kills in three-sets. As a team, the Vikings combined for 24 kills and added nine service aces. Phillips and Regina Ware-Salazar each tallied three services aces to lead the team.

Ware-Salazar also posted a team-best 15 assists to go with her three aces, four kills and a team-best four blocks. Adriana Diaz Rolon continues to play as one of the best defensive players in the Region as she accumulated 10 digs on 24 service receptions.

GAME TWO: Hudson Valley 3, SUNY Broome 0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-21)

In the final game of the day, the Vikings put together one of their better games of the season as they defeated the No. 5 ranked program in Region 3, SUNY Broome. The Vikings did not lose a set as they defeated Broome in straight sets.

Ware-Salazar had a big game for the Vikings as she led the team in service aces (2), kills (6), blocks (4) and assists (12). She continued to build upon her great play in the first game of the day and carried it over into the second game, which proved to be the difference-maker against a quality Broome program.

Tatianah Zeigler and Abby Taylor also posted a team-best six kills against Broom. Taylor also added three solo blocks and a pair of digs on the defensive end.
