Volleyball Concludes 2019 Season at Adirondack Pod

Volleyball swept 3-0 at Adirondack Pod on 10.20.19.

The Hudson Valley women's volleyball program traveled to compete in the SUNY Adirondack pod on Sunday afternoon in Queensbury, NY.  

Herkimer  3, Hudson Valley 0

The Vikings combined for 20 kills, 13 assists, three service aces and 39 digs in their four-set loss to Finger Lakes. 

Leading the way for Hudson Valley's offense was Jacqueline McCormick, who totaled a team-high nine kills and hit an excellent .381 on 21 attempts. McCormick also finished with a team-best four blocks. 

Victoria Kendrick and. Leureah Cummings handled the setter duties for the match and finished with a combined 13 assists. Kendrick tallied seven and Cummings totaled six assists. 

Laura Grippin led the Vikings defense with 19 of the Vikings 39 defensive digs in the three-set match. 

Mohawk Valley 3, Hudson Valley 2

Hudson Valley fought back from a 2-1 deficit to force a fifth set against Mohawk Valley. The Hawks ultimately defeated the Vikings in the fifth set 18-16.  

As a team, the Vikings combined for 48 kills, 27 assists, seven service aces and a season-high 98 digs. Katrina Vrooman and McCormick combined for 26 kills, as they each recorded 13 total kills. Katrina did not have a hitting error all match and finished with a career-high .684 hitting percentage on 19 attempts. Vrooman and McCormick also recorded three blocks a piece. 

Kendrick recorded 18 assists and Cummings added nine assists over the course of the five-set match. Cummings also finished with eight digs, while Madison DeMarco recorded 23 digs to go with her six kills and two service aces. 

Laura Grippin led the Vikings defense with her own career-high and team-best 41 digs against the Hawks. 

Fulton-Montgomery 3, Hudson Valley 1

The Vikings combined for 26 kills, 11 assists, five service aces and 46 digs in their four-set loss to Fulton-Montgomery.  

Grippin closed out the match with 12 digs and one kill and DeMarco finished the match with a team-high seven kills and added 10 digs. Kendrick led the way for the Vikings offensively with seven assists and Cummings added four assists and three kills.
