McCormick's 12 Kills Leads Volleyball to 5-Set Win

The Hudson Valley women's volleyball team (7-14) won their second straight match this week after they went on the road and defeated Orange 3-2 in a five-set thriller in Middletown, NY.

The Vikings combined for 30 kills, 17 assists, nine service aces, 63 digs and three blocks. Sophomore Jacqueline McCormick led the Vikings offensively with a career hitting night. McCormick recorded a personal-best 12 kills, three digs and one solo block. 

Leureah Cummings and Madison DeMarco finished with a positive hitting percentage and combined for 11 kills. DeMarco recorded six kills, 13 digs and a team-high four service aces. Cummings posted five kills and added five assists and five digs. 

Laura Grippin recorded a team-high 22 digs and added two service aces. 

The volleyball team concludes the 2019 season this Sunday, Oct. 20 when they travel to compete in the SUNY Adirondack pod.  The Vikings are scheduled to play Herkimer, Mohawk Valley and Fulton-Montgomery at Queensbury High School.
