Volleyball Earns a Win over TC3 at Broome Pod

Volleyball defeated Tompkins Cortland 3-0 at Broome Pod on 9.28.19.

The Hudson Valley women's volleyball program traveled to Binghamton, NY to compete in the SUNY Broome volleyball pod on Saturday and finished with a 1-2 record. The Vikings lone victory came as a result of a 3-0 match win over Tompkins Cortland.  

Hudson Valley 3, Tompkins Cortland 0

The Vikings earned a straight set match win over the Panthers by a score of 25-22, 25-16 and 25-12. Hudson Valley combined for 28 kills, 24 assists, nine service aces and 92 digs. 

Leading the way for Hudson Valley's offense was Madison DeMarco, finished with a team-best 10 kills and hit .333. DeMarco also added 21 digs and a team-high three service aces. 

Leureah Cummings handled the majority of the setting duties for Hudson Valley and finished with 21 assists. She also added seven digs and hit .429 with three kills. 

Laura Grippin led the Vikings defense as she tied her career-high with 31 digs in their three-set win over the Panthers. 

Broome 3, Hudson Valley 0

Hudson Valley dropped their match to host Broome in straight sets, 25-13, 25-13, 25-16.  

As a team, the Vikings combined for 11 kills, eight assists, three service aces and 52 digs. Andraya Warner-Davis and Jacqueline McCormick each finished with three kills, while McCormick added two solo blocks and Warner-Davis posted a team-high 18 digs. 

Corning 3, Hudson Valley 0

Hudson Valley dropped the three matches by the score of 25-15, 25-15 and 25-17. 

As a team, the Vikings tallied eight kills, two service aces, nine assists and 51 digs. Grippin and Warner-Davis recorded 11 and 13 digs, respectively. Katrina Vrooman finished with a team-high four kills on 11 attempts. 

Upcoming Schedule

The Vikings will travel on Tuesday, Oct. 1 to take on Fulton-Montgomery at 7 p.m. The volleyball team returns to pod action on Sunday, Oct. 6 when they travel to Cayuga to play Jefferson, Onondaga and Cayuga.
