The Hudson Valley women's volleyball program competed at North Country's NJCAA Region 3 pod tournament on Saturday in Saranac Lake and faced tough competition in Jamestown, Erie and Niagara.
Jamestown – 3, Hudson Valley 0
The Vikings combined for 11 kills, 10 assists, three service aces and 33 digs in their three-set loss to Jamestown.
Leading the way for Hudson Valley's offense was Madison DeMarco, who finished the match with a team high five kills and added three digs on the defensive end.
Leureah Cummings assisted on eight kills and added two digs for Hudson Valley.
Niagara 3, Hudson Valley 2
Hudson Valley faltered late as they dropped three straight matches after winning the first two against Niagara.
As a team, the Vikings combined for 28 kills, 24 assists, 10 service aces and a season-high 98 digs. Katrina Vrooman led the Vikings on the offensive attack as she finished the five-set match with a team-high 11 kills. Andaya Warner-Davis finished with eight kills and added 18 digs on the defensive end.
Laura Grippin led the Vikings defense with her own career-high and team-best 35 digs in her second match of the day. Grippin set a new personal best in digs for the second straight weekend.
Erie 3, Hudson Valley 0
Hudson Valley dropped three straight sets against a tough Erie program. As a team, the Vikings tallied 21 kills, four service aces, 20 assists and 62 digs. Grippin and DeMarco recorded 19 and 14 digs.
Warner-Davis led the Vikings with seven kills and Jacqueline McCormick posted six kills and a pair of digs.
Upcoming Schedule
The Vikings are scheduled to travel to take on Herkimer this Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m.
