Women's Volleyball Earns 3-1 Win over North Country

Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball (3-11) defeated North Country 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-14, 23-12) at home on Friday night in the McDonough Sports Complex. 

In the three sets, the Vikings combined for 55 kills, 48 assists and 87 digs. Kirstin Wood (Colonie/Colonie) led the Vikings with 14 kills on 33 attempts and added 24 digs and seven service aces. 

Laura Grippin (Berne/Berne-Knox-Westerlo) had a big game for the Vikings as she finished with a career-high 40 digs. She also added four kills on seven attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. 

Madison DeMarco (Schenectady/Rotterdam) joined Grippin and Wood by finishing the match with double-digit digs as she recorded 13 in the four-set match. Jessica Getty (Hartford/Hartford) hit .300 with 13 kills on 30 attempts and added two solo blocks to lead the Vikings defensively. 

The Vikings volleyball team is back in action tomorrow as Hudson Valley hosts its annual pod tournament. Hudson Valley is scheduled to play Jefferson and Onondaga in the morning matches.
