Volleyball Sweeps Ulster in Home Finale

The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team (9-13) defeated Ulster County Community College in straight sets 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-12) on Monday night.

Prior to the start of the game, the Vikings honored their sophomore class by taking a couple minutes to share a few words and stories about this year's graduating class and proceeded to bring the momentum of the celebratory pre-game into the match.

Hudson Valley combined for 25 kills, 23 assists, 11 service aces, 23 digs and nine blocks. Alayna Fredenburg (Rotterdam/Schalmont) led the Vikings with 10 kills on 19 attempts for a .316 hitting percentage and added a team-high nine digs. Danielle Pardo (Averill Park/Averill Park) recorded a team-high 23 assists and added four service aces and two kills in the match.

Jacqueline McCormick (Plattsburgh/Plattsburgh) hit .308 with five kills on 13 attempts and led the Vikings with five solo blocks. Jessica Getty (Hartford/Hartford) added three blocks and Megan Woods (Averill Park/Averill Park) tallied seven digs in the Vikings final home match.

The Vikings conclude the 2017 season on Thursday, Oct. 19 when they travel to face Orange Community College at 7 p.m.
