Volleyball Wins in Straight Sets over North Country

The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team (2-4) won its second straight match after defeating North Country in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-15) on Friday night in McDonough Sports Complex. 

As a team, the Vikings accumulated 25 kills, 22 assists and 55 digs to go with seven service aces. Megan Woods (Averill Park/Averill Park) surpassed double-digit digs for the third straight game with a team-high 18 digs. Woods also recorded one service ace and hit .333 with one kill on three attempts.

Jessica Getty (Hartford/Hartford) hit a team-high .571 to lead the team with 10 kills on 14 attempts. Getty also secured three digs and two solo blocks at the net. Alayna Fredenburg (Rotterdam/Schalmont) and Kirstin Wood (Colonie/Colonie) had a consistent night as the duo combined for 12 kills and 20 digs for the Vikings.

The Vikings are back in pod play tomorrow at McDonough Sports Complex and will play three matches against Jamestown, Erie and Niagara. The Vikings first match is scheduled for 9 a.m. All of the Vikings matches will be webcasted live on the Vikings Broadcast Network.
