Volleyball Competes in Pod Play at Adirondack

Volleyball loses all three matches on Sept. 9.

The Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball team participated in its first pod tournament of the season hosted by Adirondack on Saturday.

Vikings vs. Genesee

The Vikings dropped a competitive five-set match against Genesee 3-2 (25-15, 21-25, 25-21, 22-25, 13-15). Alayna F tallied nine kills on 28 attempts and Jacqueline McCormick converted for five kills on 11 attempts to lead the Vikings with a .455 hitting percentage. McCormick and Jessica Getty combined for 11 blocks. Kirstin Wood and Meghan Woods reached double-digit digs each as Woods recorded 26 digs and Wood having 13 digs.

Vikings vs. Finger Lakes

The Vikings were defeated by Finger Lakes 3-0 (18-25, 22-25, 14-25). Jessica Getty led the Vikings with six kills in the three sets, hitting at .556 percent. Meghan Woods and Olivia Fischer combined for 17 of the team's 29 total digs against Finger Lakes.

Vikings vs. Monroe

The Vikings also faced off against Monroe on Saturday, dropping the match in straight sets 3-0 (20-25, 11-25, 24-26).

The Vikings will be at home three days this week, starting with a match-up against Mohawk Valley on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. The Vikings will then welcome North Country on Friday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. and will host its annual Pod Tournament at McDonough Sports Complex on Saturday, Sept. 16.
