Skylstad Garners National Award; Team Placed 11th

The Hudson Valley Community College men's outdoor track and field finished seventh overall at the 2024 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which was hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY.
The men's program accumulated 42 team points and placed seventh overall and was the top-finisher among Region 3 competitors, including the 2024 Region 3 champions Mohawk Valley. At the meet, the USTFCCCA Regional awards were announced. The Vikings claimed five national awards with Brooks Robson being named the USTFCCCA East Region Field Athlete of the Year. Kyler Alston was named the USTFCCCA East Region Track Athlete of the Year and Olivia Skylstad won her second USTFCCCA East Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year. Head Coach Jeoffrey York and Assistant Coach Dan Kennedy also garnered coach and assistant coach of the year recognition by the USTFCCCA.
Highlighting the final day of the meet was Brooks Robson, who claimed his second national title after he won the men's long jump with a personal-best jump of 7.01m to edge Mohawk Valley's Keenan Cannon by 0.03m to claim the individual title.
Kyler Alston placed second in the men's 400m hurdles as he posted a personal-best and resets his own school record in the event. Alston crossed the finish line with an official time of 54.24 seconds.
The women's program placed 11th overall as they accumulated 22 team points over the three-day meet. Highlighting the final day of the championship was the 4x100 relay team, who set a new school record with a final time of 53.17 seconds. The 4x100 team members were Olivia Skylstad, Abigale Dunlavey, Madison Washburn and Taiwo Omoya.
The College of DuPage (IL) Chaparrals claimed the 2023 NJCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship, their third consecutive championship.
DuPage accumulated 144.5 points over 22 team-scored events. The Chaps were able to narrowly edge out Mineral Area (MO) who finished closely behind in second with 130.5 points. RCSJ Gloucester (NJ), Thaddeus Stevens (NJ), and Suffolk County (NY) rounded out the top five.
