Skylstad Leads Women's Track and Field at Wesleyan Indoor Invite

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field program saw its first action of the 2024 season as they traveled to participate in the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday morning in Middletown, Conn.

The women's program had a few strong performances with six top-20 finishes and were led by Olivia Skylstad, who tallied a pair of top-10 finishes. Skylstad placed seventh overall in the women's mile, tallying a time of 6:07.99. Skylstad also finished 10th in the women's 60-meter hurdles event, posting a time of 10.89 seconds. Angelica Slingerland earned an 18th place finish in the mile event with a time of 8:15.63. In the women's 800-meters event, Rebecca Seiter placed 11th overall with a time of 3:04.12.

In the field events, the women's team was led by Abigayle Dunlavey and Iamies Hassan, who both placed 15th overall in their respective events. Dunlavey finished the long jump event with a distance of 3.73-meters and Hassan placed in the shot put event with an official throw of 8.94-meters. Siri Sorensen just missed out on a top-20 finish as she placed 21st overall in the shot put with a distance of 8.30-meters.
