Women's Track Holds Region 3 Championship Lead Following Multi-Events

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field programs completed the first two days of the NJCAA Region 3 Championships, which focused on the 10K races and the Decathlon and Heptathlon.

After the first three events, the women's track and field program enter the final day with a two-point lead over Mohawk Valley after earning 18 points. The men's program currently sit tied for second place with Herkimer with 14 total points, trailing Mohawk Valley by two points.

Dylan Lawless had the Vikings best finish in the Decathlon with 3,940 points. He placed third overall behind Brian Reile from Herkimer and Memphis Lohnes from Finger Lakes.

Daniel Honsinger earned five team points with a fourth-place finish in the Decathlon as he posted a score of 3,921. Christopher Hertle placed sixth and added three team points with a final score of 3,172.

For the women's team, Alyssa Bruno won the Region 3 Heptathlon championship with an overall seven-event score of 2,235 and earned 10 team points. Ellicia Swedish placed second in the event and earned eight team points as she posted a final score of 1,123.

The track and field programs are back in action this Saturday, May 6 for the final day of the NJCAA Region 3 Championships hosted by Hudson Valley Community College at the Outdoor Athletic Complex. The events are set to begin at 11:00 AM.
