Soares Sets School Record at AIC Yellowjackets Invite

The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field programs were in action today as they participated in the AIC Yellowjacket Invitational at American International University in Springfield, Mass. 

Women's sprinter, Lia Soares had a meet to remember as she broke the school record in the women's 100m dash with her seventh-place finish and an official time of 13.34. She broke the 27-year old record set by Violet Malema by .01 seconds (13.34). Soares also placed 12th in the 200m dash with a time of 27.78 seconds. 

Ciena Lentz earned a notable finish as she placed third in the women's long jump with a distance of 4.19m.

On the men's side, Charles Benichoux won the men's 100m dash for the second consecutive week as he crossed the line with a time of 11.03 seconds. Benichoux also took home the win in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.08 seconds. 

Deiondre Rosembert won the 400m dash with a time of 52.29 seconds and he also placed third in the men's 200 dash, posting an official time of 22.43 seconds. Unique Henderson finished right behind Rosembert in the 400m dash as he placed second with a time of 54.20 seconds. 

The men's team had two individuals place inside the top-5 of the Shot Put event. Robert Fitzgerald placed third with a distance of 9.58m and Aiden Alaxanian finished fourth with a distance of 9.40m. 

Other Notable Top-10 Finishes:
Vinny Levchenko placed eighth in the 800m run with a time of 2:09.01.
Shazim Permaul placed ninth in the 5000m run with a time of 16:27.92.
Alyssa Bruno seventh in the Javelin Throw with a distance of 16.80m.
