The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's track and field program jump-started its 2022 season, its first since the global COVID-19 pandemic shutdown the program in March 2020.

The coaches and student-athletes were excited to have the opportunity to compete once again for Hudson Valley as they traveled west to participate in the Utica College Blue and Orange Indoor Meet on Saturday.

Highlighting the Vikings early season success was Charles Benichoux (Marseilles France / Lycee Pateur), who competed in and won the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.04 seconds. On the women's side, Antonia Brancato (Clifton Park / Shenendehowa) placed sixth overall in the 60-meter dash with an official time of 8.25 seconds.

Benichoux also earned team points in the men's 200-meter event after placing second overall with a time of 22.71 seconds. As a team, the men's program finished in 10th place and the women's program finished 13th place, placing ahead of four-year programs SUNY ESF, Delaware Valley and SUNY Cobleskill.

The men's and women's track and field programs will now work towards their next event, the Deneault Invitational Indoor Meet, hosted by Cornell on Saturday, February 19.
