Jeoffrey York – Men’s & Women’s Track and Field Head Coach
First Season at HVCC: 2017-18
Enters 7th Season in 2024-25

Coach Jeoffrey York enters his seventh season as head coach of the Vikings men's and women's track and field programs at Hudson Valley Community College. Under Coach York's leadership, the Vikings have achieved remarkable success, winning multiple NJCAA Region 3 Men’s Track and Field Championships and earning national recognition. Coach York currently serves as the Vice President of the Coaches’ Association with the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In the 2023-24 season, Coach York led the men’s program to another strong showing, solidifying its status as a top competitor in Region 3. The men’s program placed second at the Region 3 championships and placed seventh at the NJCAA National championships. On the women’s side, they also secured a second place finish before taking an 11th place finish at nationals. The season was highlighted by two-time All-American, Brooks Robson, winning the long jump and triple jump events with record distances.

In the previous season (2022-23), the men’s team captured their third NJCAA Region 3 championship since the program’s revival in 2018, and capped off their season with a 7th place finish at Nationals, scoring 48 points. This followed the team’s record-breaking performance in the 2021-22 season, when they finished third at Nationals, amassing 76 points. This exceptional performance was highlighted by All-American achievements from Charles Benichoux (National Champion – 100m), Martin Bond, and Isaac Jean-Baptiste.

In 2022, Coach York was instrumental in Hudson Valley earning the NJCAA bid to host the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, where the men’s team’s third-place finish marked the program's best performance to date.

The track and field programs at Hudson Valley were sidelined in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Coach York and his team returned with renewed determination in 2022. Previously, in 2019, the Vikings men’s track and field program achieved a fourth-place finish at the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships and was ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Northeast Regional rankings. The women’s program has also thrived under Coach York’s guidance, placing fifth overall out of 23 teams at the 2019 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

Following the successful 2019 season, Coach York was honored as the USTFCCCA Men’s Northeast Region Head Coach of the Year, with the men’s team reaching as high as No. 3 in the national rankings.A native of New York City and graduate of Troy High School, Coach York has strong ties to the local athletic community and continues to recruit top talent from the region. A graduate of the University at Albany, he was inducted into the university's Track and Field Wall of Fame in 2016 and the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000. During his collegiate career, York was a five-time NCAA champion, including three titles in the 110-meter high hurdles and two in the 55-meter high hurdles, and an eight-time All-American across various events.

Coach York was UAlbany's first-ever Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) champion, setting a record in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 7.23 seconds. He also holds the UAlbany record in the 110-meter high hurdles at 13.74 seconds. In 1994-95, he was recognized as the University Male Athlete of the Year.

York continued to compete at an elite level post-college, participating in U.S. Olympic-affiliated events, including a fifth-place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles at the 1995 U.S. Olympic Festival. He also won the Penn Relay Olympic Development Championship for the 110-meter high hurdles in both 1999 and 2001.

Coach York recently earned USATF Level 1 Track & Field Coach certification, furthering his commitment to developing athletes at Hudson Valley.
