Women's Tennis Earns 3-3 Tie vs. Mohawk Valley

The Hudson Valley Community College women's tennis team earned a 3-3 tie in their 2018 season opener against Mohawk Valley on Saturday afternoon in Troy, NY.
The Vikings Jacqueline Bornt (Wynantskill/Averill Park) won her match in straight sets as the team's number one seed. She defeated Autumn Fallon 6-2, 6-3. Natalie Mercedes (Rensselaer/Rensselaer), the Vikings only returner also won her match at the team's number three seed over Mohawk Valley's Selina Lim 6-4, 2-6, 6-0.
Miranda Morrison (Colonie/Colonie) dropped a tough match at the number two singles flight to Mohawk Valley's Taylor Johnson 2-6, 6-4, 2-6. Ngoc Nguyen (Clarkson/Clarkson) also dropped her match at number four singles in straight sets to Mohawk Valley's Jennifer McBain.
The double's team of Bornt and Morrison won their match 8-4 over Mohawk Valley's doubles team of Fallon and Johnson.
The women's tennis team is scheduled to play Onondaga on Monday, September 10 at home at 4 p.m.
