Hudson Valley Community College women's tennis was defeated by Broome 9-0 this afternoon at home. It was the Vikings second match in consecutive days.

The top flight match-up between Hudson Valley's Laura Ciotoli (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) and Broome's Shyanne Daye finished in favor of Daye, 6-0, 6-3.  The Vikings No.2 Madeline Gibbons (Averill Park/Averill Park) and No.3 Sarah Sampson (Albany/Albany) were both defeated for the first time this season in singles play. Gibbons was defeated 6-2, 6-2 by Broome's Madison Murphy and Sampson lost to Chelsea Denel 6-2, 6-3.

Saphire Ahlers (Rotterdam Junction/Schalmont) was defeated by Emily Whitaker 6-0, 6-1 and Natalie Mercedes (Rensselaer/Rensselaer) dropped her match at No.5 singles against Kara Shanks 6-2, 6-1.

The Vikings are back home tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 17 to face Broome Community College at 1 p.m. on the Hudson Valley Tennis Courts behind Joe Bruno Stadium.
