Jay Pokines

Jay Pokines has served as head coach of the women's soccer team at since 2005. He has guided the Vikings to several successful seasons over the years, and continues to build the program. Pokines earned Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2014, after the woman made it to the Regional A Finals, finishing No. 9 in the nation. He also earned Mountain Valley Conference and Region III Coach of the Year honors in 2013.

Coach Pokines has the Vikings women’s soccer program positioned to compete for a regional championship, which has been evident in the success of the team had accomplished in the previous two seasons. The Vikings posted their best two-year span with a program best 23-8-1 record. 

The 2018 season was led by NJCAA First-Team All-American Sydnee Metzold, who scored a program record 28 goals and 73 points. The 2018 team outscored opponents 82-7, giving up 0.85 goals per game, which ranked 10thin the NJCAA. 

Pokines received his bachelor's degree from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry and currently works as a senior landscape architect for the State of New York State, Office of General Services Design and Construction.

He lives in Scotia with his wife, Andrea and their three children.
