Women’s Soccer Shutout Ulster to End Winless Streak

The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer team put an end to its four-game losing streak as they defeated Ulster 2-0 on Tuesday evening at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. 

Samerpreet Kaur earned the win in goal as she posted her first shutout win in her collegiate career. Kaur recorded the shutout with four saves, including four corner kicks by Ulster. Mikayla Bechtel put the Vikings on the board near the end of the first half as she sent a cross at the goal, just out of the reach of the Senators keeper, for the 1-0 halftime advantage. 

In the second half, Alison Waldron scored her first goal of her collegiate career as she collected a pass from Grace Mathes and put the ball right by the Ulster keeper, giving the Vikings the 2-0 lead with less than eight minutes remaining in the match. 

The women's program returns home this Thursday, September 30 when the welcome Adirondack to the Outdoor Athletic Complex for a 4 p.m. scheduled start.
