Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (12-4) was defeated 3-1 by top-seeded Mohawk Valley in the NJCAA Region 3 District A Championship match on Sunday afternoon at Herkimer College.

The Hawks have been one of the better teams in the nation all season long and the Vikings fought hard throughout the game. Mohawk Valley jumped on the board first with a successful penalty kick with 10:27 remaining in the first half and entered the break with the 1-0 advantage.

Hudson Valley continued to find a way to respond as Brooke Clough (Latham/Shaker) tied the game less than five minutes into the second half as her goal was assisted by Cassie Patrick (Schuylerville/Schuylerville) with 41:14 remaining in the game.

With the game tied for the next 12 minutes, Mohawk Valley put another goal on the board and pulled ahead of Hudson Valley 2-1 with less than 29 minutes left in the game. The Hawks added another one late in the game to secure the win and prevent Hudson Valley from forcing overtime with a last second goal.

The successful 2019 season, which included a record-breaking performance from sophomore Clough, comes to an end. The graduating class had great two-year careers as they accumulated a 23-7-1 record.
