Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (8-3) scored five unanswered goals in the second half to defeat North Country 8-5 on Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

As the Vikings entered halftime, they trailed the North Country Saints 5-3. Brooke Clough and Grace Cusack played well off of each other in the first half as the duo was responsible for all of the points scored in the first half.

Clough put the Vikings on the board first and kicked off the high scoring first half. Clough received a cross from Cusack and sent a one-timer to the back of the net for the goal. Clough returned the favor to Cusack later in the half as Cusack scored her first goal of the game on an assist from Clough. Cusack would add her second goal of the first half at the 6:38 mark, when she was on the receiving end again from a nice pass from Clough, and sent it past the goalie for the score.

Despite the three goals in the opening half, the Vikings trailed 5-3. After the break, Hudson Valley clamped down their defense and continued their offensive firepower, scoring five unanswered goals to secure their eighth win of the season.

In the second half, Cusack recorded three more goals for her first career five-goal game. Clough continued to set her teammates up for success as she added three more assists in the second half and finished the game with five assists to go with her one goal.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Saturday, Oct, 12 when they travel to play a tough Region 3 opponent in Onondaga. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
