Women's Soccer Falls in Overtime at Broome

Women's soccer lost 3-2 in overtime at Broome on 9/29/19.

Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (5-3) dropped their second straight match as they were defeated 3-2 in overtime by Broome on the road on Sunday afternoon in Binghamton, NY.

Nearly five minutes into the start of the game, Broome took an early 1-0 lead on a goal from Anastasia Rusnak. The Vikings recovered and went on to score the next two goals, which allowed them to take a 2-1 lead into the break. 

Juliette Baker put the Vikings on the board first with 24:55 remaining in the first half. Brooke Clough sent a cross into the middle of the field, which Baker collected and sent into the back of the net for the score. 

Less than three minutes later, Hudson Valley scored again to take a one goal lead. The Vikings leading scorer, Grace Cusack recorded her ninth goal of the game on an assist from Cassie Patrick

Broome quickly rebounded to tie the game up at 2-2 in a span of 20 seconds. The game remained tied as Hudson Valley went into overtime for the first time this season. In overtime, Broome recorded the golden goal to secure the 3-2 victory. 

The women's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and will travel to play Columbia-Greene at 4 p.m. in Hudson, NY.
