Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (5-2) was defeated at home in a tough battle against NJCAA No. 4 ranked Herkimer on Wednesday evening at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

Herkimer jumped on the board first with a cross shot from left to right, which squeezed by the Vikings keeper, giving the Generals the 1-0 advantage.

Hudson Valley fought their way back to tie the game at 1-1 when Juliette Baker ran down a lead pass for a one-on-one attack on the Generals goalie. Baker won the matchup and scored in the right corner of the net.

The game remained a stalemate for the remainder of the game until the Generals struck again with less than five minutes remaining in the game. Herkimer emerged out of the pack and sent a shot in the right corner of the net for the 2-1 advantage.

The Vikings had a couple late game attempts, but ultimately, the Generals held their ground and secured the win.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 29 when they travel to face a competitive Broome program at 1 p.m.
