Following a career week, Hudson Valley's women's soccer student-athlete Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) has been named the NJCAA National and the NJCAA Region 3 Women's Soccer Player of the Week and Bailey Dunn (Saugerties/Saugerties) was named the NJCAA National Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week.

Metzold led the Vikings to a 3-0 record as she scored nine goals and three assists for 21 total points. She now has 13 goals and six assists for 32 points in the first five games of the year, eclipsing her season totals from her freshman season a year ago. Her 13 goals currently lead the nation and her 32 points ranks second in the NJCAA.

In the three wins, Sydnee recorded two hat tricks with four goals against Dutchess and added three more goals in Hudson Valley's 9-0 win over Clinton.

Dunn has been an integral part of the Vikings early success and has helped the Vikings break into the national poll for the first time since 2015. In 270 minutes in goal, Dunn has allowed one goal and earned two shutout wins. She currently boasts a 0.20 goals against average, which ranks second in the nation.

The Vikings success has the team ranked 10thin the latest version of the NJCAA national women's soccer poll following their 5-0 start. The women's soccer team have eight student-athletes with at least two goals or more and have accumulated 36 goals and 25 assists in their five games this season.

Metzold is joined by Kristen Bikowicz (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) and Brooke Clough (Latham/Shaker) as the only Vikings with double-digit points on the year. Bikowicz is third in the nation with nine assists and Clough has a pair of hat tricks for her six goals this season.

The Vikings are back home today, September 12 at 2 p.m. to play Adirondack.
