Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (3-0) continued their dominant play on Tuesday night on the road as the Vikings defeated Dutchess Community College 8-0. Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) and Brooke Clough (Latham/Shaker) combined to score seven of the team's eight goals.

Metzold and the Vikings didn't waste much time as they put a goal on the board less than 10 minutes into the game. At the 36:09 mark, she sent a shot on goal, which was deflected by the keeper, she recovered the rebound and sent another shot to the back of the net for the goal.

Hudson Valley went on to score two more goals in a span of two minutes when Metzold sent a shot to the left corner for her second goal of the night. Less than two minutes later, Kristen Bickowicz (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills) found Clough on a cross pass to the middle of the field. Clough then sent a shot to the right corner for the Vikings third goal of the game.

The women's soccer team continued to put pressure on Dutchess (0-1) late in the first half. Jessica Clifford (Rotterdam/Schalmont) was on the receiving end of a pass by Metzold and was set up for the goal, giving the Vikings a 5-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Clough hit her stride as she scored the first two goals of the half at the 28:57 and 24:21 mark, respectively. Clough finished the game with a career high three goals and her first hat trick.

Hudson Valley scored their final goal of the game with 11:43 remaining in the game. Kaitlin Nadeau (Latham/Shaker) assisted Metzold in the middle of the field, which set her up for her fourth goal of the game and her eighth goal of the season.

Bailey Dunn (Saugerties/Saugerties) had an easy night in net and recorded one save as the Vikings defense kept Dutchess out of the offensive zone for most of the evening.

The women's soccer team returns to action this Thursday, September 6 as they travel to play Holyoke at 4 p.m.
