The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer team's (11-4) defeated Jefferson Community College 5-3 on Sunday afternoon and extended its win-streak to seven straight games.

Hudson Valley jumped out early on Jefferson this afternoon with Susannah Frisch (Cambridge/Cambridge) scoring twice in the first 2:35 of the game to give the Vikings a 2-0 lead. Hudson Valley extended its lead 20 minutes later when Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) scored on a pass from Sydney Buhrke (Coxsackie/Coxsackie-Athens) for her 12th goal of the season.

In the second half, Madison Pinzer (Wynantskill/Troy) took over for Kaitlin Nadeau (Latham/Shaker) in goal as Nadeau played the remainder of the game as the Vikings offensive striker. Nadeau then opened the half with back-to-back goals within five minutes of each other and the Vikings went up 5-1 with 17 minutes remaining in the game.

Jefferson later scored twice in the final 15 minutes of the game to pull within two goals but ultimately ran out of time and the Vikings secured the 5-3 win.

The Vikings have secured the No. 5 seed in the 2017 NJCAA Region III tournament and will travel to face No. 4 Corning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26. The Vikings lost to Corning 2-0 in their previous matchup on Sept. 16 at Troy.
