The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer team (9-4) defeated Onondaga on the road this afternoon 2-0 and extended its win streak to five straight games.

The Vikings jumped to the 1-0 lead in the first half as Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) led the attack on the Onondaga defense as she sent a pass across the face of the goal with Paige Bailey (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) running herself open on the opposite side of the field and she sent the ball into the back of the net. Hudson Valley entered the half with the 1-0 lead.

Hudson Valley added an important insurance goal in the second half as the Vikings defense secured their third shutout victory in the last four games. The second goal of the game came as a result of a breakaway by Metzold and Susannah Frisch (Cambridge/Cambridge). Metzold sent the pass into the middle to find Frisch one-on-one with Onondaga's keeper. Frisch beat the keeper with a well-placed shot to the bottom left hand side of the net.

Kaitlin Nadeau (Latham/Shaker) played all but a couple minutes in goal and recorded four saves in her ninth win of the season as the Vikings goalkeeper.

The Vikings have now outscored their opponents 23-2 during their current five game win streak. Hudson Valley returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Oct. 17 when they travel to face Bergen at 1 p.m.
