The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer team (6-4) defeated Clinton 6-0 on the road this afternoon.

The Vikings had six different student-athletes score on the day as they secured their second shutout win of the season. Susannah Frisch (Cambridge/Cambridge) started the scoring for Hudson Valley with 27:38 remaining in the half as she sent the ball from the far outside box to the far right corner of the goal.

Serena Gates (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) added a goal with 19:08 remaining as her shot from outside the box was deflected by a Clinton defender and ricocheted into the net, giving the Vikings the 2-0 advantage. Later in the half, Syndey Buhrke (Coxsackie/Coxsackie-Athens) sent a forwarding pass to Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) and she converted for the third goal of the game. The Vikings went into halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Hudson Valley came out in the second half and added three more goals. With 34:17 on the clock, Madison Pinzer (Wynantskill/Troy) scored on a shot with a tight angle and placed it just inside the near post and the Vikings went up 4-0. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Bethany Pochobradsky (Rotterdam/Mohonasen) added the Vikings fifth goal on an assist near the end line from Kerri VanAusdle (Athens/Coxsackie-Athens).

The Vikings final goal was assisted by Volante Penzabene (Valatie/Ichabod Crane) as she found Paige Bailey (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) for the shot and goal from outside the box. Kaitlin Nadeau (Latham/Shaker) and Pinzer split time in goal, combining for one save in 90 minutes of play.

Women's soccer returns to action a week from today as they welcome North Country on Sunday, Oct. 8 for a 3 p.m. start time.
