The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team earned a 56-51 victory over Herkimer College on Wednesday night in McDonough Sports Complex.
After trailing 16-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Vikings battled back in the second and took control in the second half to secure the win. Hudson Valley shot 38.6 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc while holding Herkimer to 27.6 percent shooting overall.
Alessia Salierno led the Vikings with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including three three-pointers. Myanna Faraj added 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, while Lila Christensen contributed 10 points and eight rebounds in the win.
With the victory, Hudson Valley improves to 2-1 on the season.
The Vikings return to action on Saturday, November 15, when they travel to Tompkins Cortland Community College for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
