Leah Pergola Named to All-Region First Team

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball student-athlete, Leah Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington), was named to the NJCAA All-Region first team as announced by the Region 3 basketball committee at the Region 3 basketball tournament on Friday, March 1.

Pergola led the team in scoring and rebounding this season as she ranked second in the Region with 21.8 points per game. She finished behind Fulton-Montgomery's Andie Gannon, who was named the Region 3 player of the year. Pergola accumulated 9.3 rebounds per game which ranked ninth in the Region. Pergola was dangerous from behind the three-point arc, she ranked third in the Region, shooting 34 percent from deep and made 68 three-pointers over her 23 games played. She connected for more than five three-point field goals in seven games, including a career-high seven three-point field goals twice. She hit seven three-point field goals in the Vikings home win over North Country, which Pergola finished with a career-high 34 points on 12-of-17 shooting.

Pergola and the women's basketball program had its season end on Friday afternoon as they were defeated by No. 3 Mohawk Valley, 86-51. Pergola played all 40 minutes and tallied 21 points and eight rebounds in the quarterfinal round.
