Women's Basketball Wins Fourth Straight

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball program won its fourth straight game and its ninth win in their last 10 games after they defeated Finger Lakes 83-37 on Sunday afternoon in Canandaigua, NY.

The Vikings took control of the game early as they outscored Finger Lakes 20-10 in the first quarter and 26-10 in the second quarter. The game was secured following the third quarter when the Vikings held the Lakers to just four points and the Vikings extended its lead to 64-24 as the game entered the fourth quarter.

Leading the way for Hudson Valley was Abigayle Yetto, who finished with a game-high 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting. Yetto also tallied a team-best seven assists and seven steals in 28 minutes of action.

Destiny Pipino and Leah Pergola each scored 17 points on efficient shooting. Pipino notched her second triple-double of the season as she added 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Pipino's first triple-double of the year came on the road against Rockland on Dec. 12, 2023. Pergola went 7-of-12 from the floor, including 3-of-8 from behind the three-point arc and added six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Sidney Phillips was the fourth Vikings member to reach double-digit scoring as she finished with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 27 minutes of action.

The Vikings are back home for a three-game homestand, which begins on Wednesday, January 31 when they host Massasoit at 7 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.
