Women's Basketball Victorious at Cayuga

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball program won its third consecutive game and its eighth win in the last nine games after they defeated Cayuga 71-57 on Saturday afternoon in Auburn, NY.

The Vikings and the Spartans battled back and forth for the majority of the game until the fourth quarter, when Hudson Valley took control and outscored the home Spartans 21-12 in the final quarter, resulting in another HVCC victory.

Leading the way for the Vikings was Leah Pergola and Sidney Phillips, who combined to score 41 points on the day. Pergola posted a game-high 22 points and Phillips tallied a career-best 19 points with seven field goals and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Pergola connected on six, three-point field goals. Pergola has hit 13 three-point field goals in the last two games combined.

The women's program is back in action tomorrow, Sunday, January 28 when they close out the weekend road trip at Finger Lakes in Canandaigua, NY. The game is scheduled to tip off at 12 p.m.
