The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball program dropped a tough NJCAA Region 3 match up 77-60 at Herkimer on Wednesday evening.

The Vikings stayed close with the Generals for the majority of the first half of the game as they entered the halftime break trailing 37-31. In the second half, the Generals utilized an 18-12 run in the third quarter to break open the game, taking a 12-point lead into the final quarter.

Hudson Valley couldn't overcome the double-digit deficit, despite playing well in the final quarter with Herkimer outscoring Hudson Valley 21-17 down the stretch.

Leading the way for the Vikings was Destiny Pipino, who finished with a team-high 18 points with eight field goals made, including a pair of three-point field goals. Sidney Phillips also had a nice game, scoring 10 of her 16 points in the second half of the game and Leah Pergola, the Vikings leading scorer, reached double-digit scoring for the sixth consecutive game as she finished with 15 points.

Up next for the Vikings is a back-to-back road trip over the weekend as they travel to take on Corning on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. and later will close out the road trip with a Region 3 game at Genesee on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 12 p.m. in Batavia, NY.
