Women's Basketball Dominant in Win

The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball program earned a convincing 60-31 win over SUNY Adirondack on Tuesday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.

As a team, the Vikings managed to record 72 field goal attempts, making 23 buckets with shooting percentage of 31 percent. The team also recorded a team-best 17 steals, 14 assists and collected 55 total rebounds in a dominating performance. Hudson Valley still struggled controlling possession at times as they finished with 21 turnovers, surpassing 20+ turnovers for the fourth time in five games played.

Hudson Valley jumped out to a quick 19-2 lead following the first quarter and they put the game away for good in the third quarter when they outscored the Timberwolves 20-14 and entered the final quarter with a commanding 51-26 advantage.

Leading the way for Hudson Valley was Leah Pergola, who finished with her third double-double this season, scoring 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Destiny Pipino also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Sydney Phillips just missed a double-double as she tallied 13 points and nine rebounds in the win.

Abigayle Yetto also played a key role in the team's win as she finished with a team-high seven assists and added eight rebounds and four steals.

Up next for the women's basketball program is a critical conference match. The four-game road trip begins on Wednesday, Dec. 6 when they travel to take on Herkimer at 7 p.m. in Herkimer, NY.
