The Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball team came up just short of earning a road win as North Country hit a buzzer-beater to secure a 58-56 win over the Vikings on Saturday afternoon at the Sparks Athletic Center in Saranac Lake, NY.

The women's team jumped out to a quick 17-12 lead early in the game and added to their lead as they went on a 12-4 run to start off the second quarter and entered the halftime break with a 31-19 advantage.

The Saints from North Country cut into the Vikings lead in the third quarter as they won the point differential during the 10-minute span, 22-14, and entered the final quarter down four points, 45-41 to Hudson Valley.

In the final quarter, the Vikings managed to score 11 points but it was not enough as North Country went on a run and outscored Hudson Valley 17-11 to steal away the win from the Vikings. Hudson Valley came through in the clutch as they regained a 54-52 lead with just over one-minute remaining in the game. However, with 14 seconds remaining, Hudson Valley went 1-of-2 from the free throw line, tying the game up at 56-56 and North Country managed to transition quickly down the court for the game-winning layup as time expired.

The women's basketball team falls to 1-3 on the season and will return to action following the Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. as they welcome SUNY Adirondack to the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.
